Don't miss this special opportunity to step into history through the lens of one of the Southwest's most influential photographers

Welcome Back
The well-loved Chautauqua series at San Juan College is back with Deborah Blanche as Laura Gilpin, Photographer.
She packed her equipment in on horseback to photograph the source of the Rio Grande, did studio portraits for society matrons, directed pilots to “fly low” over Shiprock to capture the light and shadows from every possible angle.
In this show meet Miss Gilpin as she was in the year 1954 – a confident, ebullient woman in her early 60’s, as she narrates images from her first Lumiere color prints and her best-known book, The Enduring Navajo, and tells behind-the-camera stories.
Reception with Deborah following the show.
