Kids Kollege students taking an arts class

For Kids through Community Learning Center

Fuel your child’s love of learning with hands-on science classes that make education exciting, surprising, and fun.

Our Surprising Science series offers hands-on exploration into topics like chemistry, geology, and wildlife for younger students, while Surprising Biology brings new challenges for older learners. With engaging experiments, games, and real science fair project ideas, these classes make science both exciting and meaningful.

CLC Kids Classes

Science surprises many people both in the reaction that can be seen AND the explanation behind it.  It seems like magic, but it is really just science!  This class continues to explore the wonder and science of our world through new topics, experiments, demonstration, and activities (different from previous classes). Topics for this class include magic/puzzles, geology/fossils, environmental science, and wildlife.  Satisfy science-hungry students with science topics and experiments every class and take away ideas and guidance for science fair projects.

10.5 hrs

MARK EVERSON has a Masters of Education from UNM, in addition to a Master’s degree in Environmental Education and Forest Resources. He has over 20 years of experience teaching science and judging science fairs.

8/27 – 10/8, WED, 10-11:30 am, SJC Room 1905, $59

Biology has interesting and diverse surprises for students—plants that protect themselves, animals with a better memory than humans, and our lungs work…how?! This class continues in the Surprising Science class tradition and raises the bar for the older student. We continue to explore the wonder and science through experiments, games and demonstrations—all within the domain of biology. Satisfy science-hungry students and take away exciting and original ideas for science fair, too. Dig deeper into the mysteries of the human body, botany, animal science, and ecology. Be sure to bring a journal to keep track of our explorations, experiments, and new vocabulary. A $15 supply fee payable to instructor at the first class covers the supplies for these experiments and projects. Appropriate for ages 10-14.
