SJC Street Team

The San Juan College Street Team is a unique and creative group of students from various academic disciplines. They use their position and influence, along with their personal and SJC social media accounts, to showcase SJC student life and elevate the college brand. Street Team members create the social media content, may oversee and engage in the conversations using various social media, and promote #SJCStreetTeam.


Students who are chosen to participate and complete the program, will receive:

  • a $500 stipend for each semester
    • Please note: Students must meet all Street Team requirements to receive the stipend. The stipend will be paid at the end of the semester.
  • an iPad®

Please note: This is NOT a paid or work-study-funded position, and the iPad is given as part of the stipend and not as compensation for making media posts. Students must meet all Street Team requirements to receive the $500 stipend.

  • Work collaboratively with San Juan College Marketing and Public Relations Department (MPR) to coordinate content.
  • Maintain regular communication with MPR.
  • Ensure that social media strategy supports the overall SJC brand, goals, and objectives.
  • Develop creative and innovative ideas for social campaigns and ways to utilize hashtags to generate buzz, etc.
  • Assist in the growth of SJC Social Media presence through likes, comments, and shares.

  • Post social media entries each week that highlight student life at San Juan College. Tag San Juan College in the posts, use the official Street Team hashtag #SJCStreetTeam, and sign off with your name. You must post at least two posts each week (including at least one video).
    • On official San Juan College Accounts:
      • Facebook page – using Agorapulse
      • Instagram page – using Agorapulse
      • Twitter page – using Agorapulse
      • TikTok – using Agorapulse
    • On your personal social media account(s):
      • Platform of your choosing. Preferably, it should be one with the most followers and engagement.
      • Do not create fake accounts solely for these postings. They should be shared on an existing account with followers.
      • San Juan College must be allowed to follow you.

**The post requirements may change depending on the number of street team members and platform options available.

  • One of your weekly posts must be a video.
  • Must sign off with your name on all posts, including TikTok.
  • Must tag @sanjuancollege on all posts from your personal accounts.
  • Must attend at least one SJC event a month.
  • Post activity must be reviewed on the last day of each month, and monthly status reports must be submitted to MPR by the end of the first week of the following month.
  • Student must agree to two consecutive semesters (semesters stated below) or forfeit the incentives
  • Must have a GPA of 2.0 or higher
  • Attend SJC Street Team training
  • Attend meetings when offered
  • Must be able to attend San Juan College and community events
  • Participation requires a commitment of 2- 3 hours each week to ensure active engagement in social media posts
  • Must be available on some evenings and weekends, as necessary – allowing for flexibility of timing for posting and managing social media content
  • Preferred experience with social media channels and management tools for business/organizational promotion
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • A self-starter
  • Comfortable working independently, as well as with a team
  • Effective time management skills
  • Ability to multitask
  • Strong interest in representing SJC to help document the SJC student experience
  • Use only appropriate language, be truthful and accurate in posts, and clearly state that your posts are your opinion and not the official position of San Juan College.
  • Immediately correct inaccurate or misleading posts
  • NEVER give out any San Juan College social media passwords!
  • NEVER change or manipulate any San Juan College passwords or accounts!

Please note: Requirements may change based on various factors affecting San Juan College, such as a pandemic, a lack of students, or changes in social media platforms.
