The Continuing Education department at San Juan College has had its program certified by the Learning Resources Network (LERN), the leading association in continuing education.

“We want to congratulate Liesl Dees and the entire Continuing Education staff on this achievement,” noted William A. Draves, CAE, CPP, President of LERN. “Program Certification not only represents the following of benchmarks and best practices in our field, it also indicates the desire and commitment to improving the program and serving your community further.”

To receive certification, the organization had to submit a set of data to LERN. “The data represents the most important ratios in our field, says Draves. “A program not only has to calculate the data, but in doing so understand the critical role it plays in successful continuing education programs and decision making, as well as improving performance. These are rigorous standards. Not only do you have to measure outcomes, but you must also follow best practices. The certification is elite, but not elitist. The outcomes are learner oriented and in the best interests in serving the community.”

The Continuing Education department encompasses non-credit, Encore and professional development classes. The Community Learning Center provides lifelong learning opportunities to enhance the mind, body and spirit through non-credit classes. Encore classes create opportunities for seniors to maintain lifelong vitality through self-development and service. The Center for Workforce Development provides individuals and businesses with quality, innovative and outcome driven professional development trainings across a variety of industries. Classes in Continuing Education are offered year-round. More information is available at sanjuancollege.edu.
