Celebrating Achievements and Encouraging Future Success
Mayor Nate Duckett has deep roots in Farmington having moved here from Denver with his family at the age of 15. He’s a graduate of Farmington High School and the University of New Mexico where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology. He’s the first in his family to graduate from college.
Mayor Duckett’s professional journey began in corporate management before transitioning to the insurance industry. However, his true passion has always been public service. In 2014, he entered local politics when he successfully ran for Farmington City Council. In 2018, he was elected mayor, a position he holds with pride. A bold leader and visionary, Mayor Duckett has worked tirelessly to diversify Farmington’s economy.
As a dedicated community ambassador, he uses his platform to amplify the rebranding of Farmington as the place where outdoor lovers and active families thrive. Under Mayor Duckett’s leadership, the City of Farmington has expanded its outdoor recreation offerings, created an economic development department, remodeled the historic downtown arts and cultural district, and partnered in initiatives to attract retirees and location-neutral workers. He’s also been actively involved in supporting the community’s traditional and emerging energy industries. As an elected official who understands the significance of transparency and community engagement, Mayor Duckett is committed to keeping the residents of Farmington informed about City matters. He does this through his bimonthly podcast, The Mayor’s Table, and weekly radio show, Moneybelt Radio.
When he’s not advocating for his community or volunteering his time, Mayor Duckett enjoys traveling with his family. He’s also known for his culinary skills as an accomplished home chef and is a weekend golfer determined to achieve that elusive hole-in-one.
