Last fall, San Juan College students participated in the Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Honor Society 2022 Induction ceremony.
Phi Theta Kappa is a national honor society in which students are invited if they are taking more than 12 credit hours for two semesters and have a grade point average over 3.5. The mission and focus of Phi Theta Kappa is to recognize and encourage the academic achievement of college students while providing opportunities for individual growth and development through participation in honors, leadership, service and fellowship programming.
Benefits to PTK members include national job and transfer scholarship opportunities. Members also gain service and leadership experiences. The San Juan College co-advisors for Phi Theta Kappa, Dawn Myers, associate professor of Human Services and Dr. Veronica Evans, professor of biology, hosted an induction ceremony to meet the new members and their families. The co-advisors prepared a PowerPoint presentation with personal profiles and photos of the members. The members also received their membership certificates and pins during the ceremony.
