Together with dozens of other NC3 Leadership Schools across the country, SJC is holding NC3 National Letter of Intent Signing Day, Thursday, April 18, starting at 9 a.m. in the Connie Gotsch Theatre.
Similar to traditional athletic signing ceremonies, this unique event is exclusively open to first-time Career & Technical Education (CTE) students planning to join SJC. It honors students entering a technical field and celebrates the dignity of work. Over 120 students will sign their intent to attend SJC for the 2024-2025 school year. Six area schools will be represented: Aztec High School, Bloomfield High School, Farmington High School, Kirtland Central High School, Piedra Vista High School, and Rocinante High School. In addition, four schools from Colorado are bringing students to the event.
Dr. Amy Loyd, Assistant Secretary for the Office of Career and Technical Education for the U.S. Department of Education, will provide welcoming remarks during this year’s event. During her visit, she will take the opportunity to tour campus and learn about the many programs at San Juan College as well as the business partnerships for workforce and economic development.
Students will sign their intent to attend one of approximately 27 different San Juan College programs, ranging from welding, diesel technology, and fire science to computer science, accounting, and business administration.
Students who participate will receive recognition from the Career & Technical Education program staff at San Juan College, and local industries and businesses in attendance. They will also be given SJC merchandise and are eligible to win one of 10 $1,000 San Juan College Foundation scholarships.
For those who can’t attend in person, The NC3 National Letter of Intent Signing Day event will be streamed live.
