San Juan College (SJC) is gearing up to welcome the community to one of the most exciting career and technical education events in the region, the SkillsUSA Regional Championships.

SkillsUSA Regional Championships

This all-day event celebrates craftsmanship, competition and workforce development, bringing together top students from across the Four Corners to showcase their expertise in Automotive and Diesel technology.

What is SkillsUSA?

SkillsUSA is a national nonprofit organization that connects students, educators and industry leaders to build a skilled workforce for America’s future. Serving more than 380,000 students and instructors nationwide, SkillsUSA provides training programs, events and competitions that help students excel in career and technical education (CTE).

Each year, the SkillsUSA Championships are recognized as one of the world’s largest hands-on workforce development events.

At the SJC regional event, competitors will take part in all eight Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification areas, along with tests in tool and component identification, service manual knowledge and other technical challenges.

Where Hands-On Training Meets Real-World Competition

On Friday, November 21, 2025, SJC’s state-of-the-art training facilities will host over 160 competitors from multiple schools across New Mexico, Colorado and Utah. Students will demonstrate their mastery in critical automotive and diesel service skills, from diagnostics and repair to advanced testing and component identification.

“This competition is where you see the future of the automotive industry in action,” said Don Beauregard, Coordinator and Associate Professor of Automotive Technology at SJC. “These students have put in countless hours to master their skills, and this event gives them a platform to shine.”
