Hobbies and Home Classes

Discover the art of canning to enjoy seasonal flavors all year round! This hands-on class will guide you through canning techniques perfect for winter and spring
produce, helping you preserve fruits, veggies, and more at their peak freshness. Whether you’re a beginner or looking to expand your canning skills, you’ll learn how
to create delicious, shelf-stable goods to enjoy anytime. Get ready to fill your pantry with homemade, flavorful foods and savor the seasons long after they’ve passed!
Students will need to bring two wide-mouthed quart jars with seal lid to class. A $15 materials fee payable to instructor at class. 5 hrs

Positive reinforcement training encourages your dog to learn and creates a relationship of mutual respect between you and your canine companion. Learn the basics of dog manners, including cues such as sit, stay, down and how to manage behaviors such as jumping and leash pulling. This class uses positive reinforcement, reward-based training with treats and praise. Bring a leash (4 ft or 6 ft, no extendable leashes, harness is preferred, flat collar accepted), lots of soft treats, poo bags and your dog’s current vaccination records; dogs must be current on vaccines. Please wear comfortable, weather appropriate clothes and shoes. You will go home with a complete training book, whistle, and a clicker. Appropriate for dogs 10 weeks and up. If your dog has displayed any aggressive, reactive, or extreme fear behavior with other dogs or people call Zia Dog Training at 505-801-4699 before signing up. $15 supply fee payable to instructor at the first class. Appropriate for 18 and up, accompanied minors are accepted. Registration is limited to two people per dog, with the same person attending all sessions. First session is an orientation for people only, no dogs. All persons who attend the class must be registered through San Juan College. 6 hrs
