The Associate of Science Degrees in the School of Science, Math, and Engineering prepare you for transfer into baccalaureate programs at the junior level. We have developed agreements with baccalaureate schools to ensure that all courses taken at SJC apply toward your B.S. degree.
With our modern science labs, you will gain the knowledge and experience necessary to be successful in scientific research. You'll also have opportunities to participate in summer research projects at San Juan College and through our partnerships, summer research experiences at many locations across the nation.
School of Science, Math and Engineering Degree Programs
Through the Associate of Science (A.S.) degree in Biology, you'll gain a solid foundation in biology that will prepare you to pursue a Bachelor of Science degree and then a rewarding career in a number of associated fields.
Chemical engineers touch every aspect of our lives. They help design and manufacture computer chips, develop new medicines and medical equipment, improve recycling and restoration processes, improve water purification processes, and develop energy resources. San Juan College has a collaborative program with NMSU. You will take math, chemistry, physics, and general education courses at SJC and take chemical engineering courses remotely from NMSU faculty. After completing your lower-level coursework, you will transfer to NMSU to finish the baccalaureate degree in Chemical Engineering.
Through the Associate of Science (A.S.) degree in Chemistry, you'll be prepared to transfer to a four-year school at the junior level to complete your Bachelor's or advanced degree. In addition, some A.S. graduates find employment as Chemical Technicians.
San Juan College's Associate of Science (A.S.) degree in Engineering is designed to articulate with New Mexico State University, University of New Mexico, New Mexico Tech, and Fort Lewis College which means that upon graduation, you can transfer with junior-level status into one of their ABET accredited baccalaureate programs.
Through the Associate of Science (A.S.) degree in Geology, you'll be prepared to transfer to a four-year institution to complete a bachelor's or other advanced degrees in geological sciences. In addition, SJC has an articulation agreement with Fort Lewis College so that students who complete this program transfer at the junior level.
When you complete the Associate of Science (A.S.) degree in Mathematics, you will be prepared to transfer to a four-year institution to pursue a bachelor's degree in one of the mathematical sciences. We have articulation agreements with Fort Lewis College and Western New Mexico University to ensure that courses completed at SJC will meet all lower- level requirements.
Prepare for an advanced career in the medical field through earning an Associate of Science (A.S.) degree in Medical Science. Upon completion of the degree, you will have taken most of the courses required to take the MCAT. In addition, you will be prepared to transfer to a four-year institution to earn a bachelor’s degree toward your goal of becoming a doctor, surgeon, dentist, or veterinarian.
The Associate of Science (A.S.) degree in Pre-Health Science is a flexible program that maximizes your ability to transfer to a 4-year school while also preparing you to enter many allied health fields. This includes occupational therapy, physical therapy, respiratory therapy, nursing, and more.

Assist people in understanding and taking their medication by becoming a pharmacist. The Associate of Science (A.S.) degree in Pre-Pharmacy and the Advanced Certificate program prepares you for direct acceptance into the University of New Mexico (UNM) Doctor of Pharmacy program. Students enrolled in this program will become part of the UNM College of Pharmacy Early Assurance Program.
